One of our CES supporters has drawn this comprehensive website to our attention. It has been prepared primarily by Emeritus Professor Malcolm Whyte AO (Others who assisted are acknowledged at the end of the site). Professor Whyte is a Queensland Rhodes Scholar from 1947. Until 1977 he worked in academic clinical medicine and research. He then moved into community-based work in the Australian Capital Territory’s health service where he focused on the use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs.
A cocktail evening will be held at the East Timor Embassy on Friday 1 May 2015 6pm - 8pm. The evening is an opportunity to meet Sister Loundres Da Cruz from East Timor and hear from her about her humanitarian and reconciliation work in East Timor. In 1989, Sister Loundres Da Cruz founded The organisation ISMAIK (Mana Lou ) which was a fearless campaigner for Independent and Human Rights during the war. ISMAIK continues to fight against poverty. ISMAIK is long term project and needs continuing humanitarian assistance to help the vulnerable people in Timor-Leste.
