Just a friendly reminder that CES May forum will be this coming Wednesday evening ie 7.30 pm on 25 May. As usual it will be held at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Corner of Blackall St and Kings Ave in Barton.
Topic: Tax Reform: A Christian Vision
Based on conclusions from Christian biblical narratives and Catholic social teaching, many Christian economists call for tax reform that will provide increases in tax revenue to fund social expenditure.
Speaker: Dr Brendan Long - Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture (ACC&C)
A Christian economist and member of the Australian Catholic Theological Association, Dr Long has over two decades of experience in key government agencies. He has held leadership policy roles in national peak organisations in the private and not-for-profit sectors, including Catholic Social Services Australia and National Disability Services. He has also been a senior political adviser for six years to Federal politicians including Simon Crean, Joel Fitzgibbon, Joseph Ludwig and Stephen Conroy.
Dr Long works for the ACC&C on public theology and social policy, where he applies Christian theology to social and economic policy issues as part of the Civil Society Research Program of the Centre. His latest analysis looks at the emerging economic views of Pope Francis.
