justice and ethics that may be of interest to some CES members and supporters.
Please note that these are non CES organized and managed events and not necessarily CES endorsed.
Some of these are past events, but the links may still be of interest.

Forced Adoptions - Do public apologies help?
Public Forum followed by refreshments and informal discussion.

YOUTH EMBASSY EVENTS
Youth Climate Embassy
As the nation debates the short-term costs involved in legislation to tackle
climate change, the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change (ARRCC)
is highlighting the needs of future generations who have no voice in
today's debate. ARRCC invites those interested to visit or join a Youth
Embassy for intergenerational justice on the lawns of Parliament House, Mon.
- Thurs. June 25th - 28th (incl.) 9 am - 4 pm.
It would be great to have a good crowd around the Embassy when we hold our
Press Conference at 11.30 am Tuesday June 26th.
The main aim is to draw the attention of Australians to the need for a safe
climate future for the children/grandchildren of the world and future
generations, particularly people in developing countries. The timing is for
the lead-up to the implementation of the Clean Energy Future legislation on
July 1st, when the media focus will be on the costs of taking action.
So far we have been inviting from people under the age of 25, to send in
their views in written or creative formats to:

They can also put their views on site at the Embassy.
Peace Pole ceremony
As part of the Youth Embassy vigil, Canberra Interfaith Forum plans to hold a
Peace Pole ceremony. Gathering around a Peace Pole people would listen to
youth sharing their view on care for creation. The ceremony is planned for 3
- 4 pm on Tuesday June 26th.
Peace in Parliament and harmony with earth and with each other, essential
ingredients for the future of our Lucky Planet as we debate the implications
of the Clean Energy Future legislation.

Interfaith Forum
The finale of the Youth Embassy will be on Thursday June 28th 6.30 - 8.30 pm,
a public Interfaith Forum on the question of intergenerational justice.
Speakers: Rev. Professor James Haire, youth speakers from a number of faith
backgrounds. Some of the short video contributions from youth will also be
shown on the night and a brief whimsical musical performance is planned.
When: Thursday, June 28 at 6.30 - 8.30 pm
Venue: Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, 15 Blackall St,
Barton.

Prosecutions, NSW spoke on living with drugs: fostering a safe, open
and rational society.

In this seminar speakers Professor Mick Dodson and Masepah Banu will discuss how Native Title is changing lives in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They will also consider the next step in the 'rights agenda', the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Australian Constitution.

Kathy Kelly, peace activist, visiting Canberra
Kathy Kelly, an American peace activist
who has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize,
will be visiting Canberra the week after next.
She will speak at the Australian Catholic University
on "The Inventiveness of Nonviolence, a Gospel Perspective".
Kathy has invested her life in search of non-military solutions to end wars,
often at great personal cost. Kathy has lived in war zones, sharing the dangers
with civilians in Nicaragua, Gaza, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
